I do essentially the same thing with a pair of Turtle Beach AudioTrons (no longer available), to display both live weather data and NWS forecasts.

I have three displays from www.slimdevices.com which do this for me,
one for each floor.  They're really mp3 players/internet radios etc
connected to a server by ethernet/wireless and they're pretty
programmable (I'm using the NSLU2 both as data logger and music server
to avoid the troubles of a PC).  At $249+ they're too expensive to use
as just weather displays, but since I wanted these for my music system
anyway, it wasn't really an extra cost weather wise.
